Ultrasound

Ultrasound (US), or sonography, uses high frequency sound waves to produce an image. These sound waves are harmless and are produced by a technologist using a small probe. The high-frequency sounds waves bounce off the anatomy and are collected back at the probe. A computer is then used to reconstruct the data to create an image.

Ultrasound can aid in the imaging of soft tissue, fetus, or other soft body parts for diagnosing a variety of conditions and diseases. Prior to your ultrasound exam, you may be given specific instructions to prepare for your exam. Depending on the type of exam, you may also be asked to change into a gown or other clothing.
